Why 356/6 belongs to a different match

The 356/6 figure belongs to the second ODI on 18 September. Cricket Australia’s report records Australia’s innings at 356/6 from 50 overs, with Travis Head making 112, Mitchell Marsh 53, Cooper Connolly 78, and Ollie Peake finishing on 41 not out from 18 balls. Those figures are in the second-ODI report.

The official match centre is therefore the correct page for that fixture. However, 356/6 is Australia’s innings line, not a substitute for a completed match result. A scorecard answer should not turn that one innings total into a claim about who won.

The useful way to read the two numbers

The important distinction is not simply the size of the totals. It is the combination of date, ODI number, innings and result status. The first match has both team totals and a stated result. The second figure identifies Australia’s completed innings in a separate match.

That also explains why player names from the two fixtures can appear together in search results without belonging to one scorecard. For a completed-result query, use the first ODI’s 294/8, 235 all out and 59-run margin. For the 18 September fixture, open the second-ODI match centre and keep 356/6 labelled as Australia’s innings total.
