India vs Japan cricket: are the 18 and 22 September matches the same game?
India–Japan is not one fixture. The teams, dates, competitions and venues show which match each listing refers to.
An India–Japan cricket search can look like one fixture when it is not. The official notices identify different teams, dates, competitions and venues.
Why “India vs Japan” is not enough
The Aichi–Nagoya 2026 schedule lists India Women vs Japan Women on 18 September 2026. The BCCI separately announces a men’s one-off T20I against Japan on 22 September 2026.
That means the team label matters before matching a scorecard or schedule. These are not alternate listings of the same game.
| Fixture | India date and time | Venue | Competition or description |
|---|---|---|---|
| India Women vs Japan Women | 18 September 2026, 10:30 am IST | Korogi Athletic Park | Aichi–Nagoya 2026 Asian Games women’s cricket (official schedule) |
| India men vs Japan | 22 September 2026 | Sano International Cricket Ground, Tochigi, Japan | One-off T20I, described by BCCI as the Suzuki Cup (BCCI announcement) |
How to identify the right match
Check these three fields together:
- Team: Women or men?
- Date: 18 September or 22 September 2026?
- Venue: Korogi Athletic Park or Sano International Cricket Ground?
The combination is more useful than the short “India vs Japan” label alone. It prevents the women’s Asian Games fixture from being confused with the later men’s T20I.
The practical answer
For 18 September, the official schedule points to India Women versus Japan Women in the Asian Games, with the listed start converting to 10:30 am IST. For 22 September, the BCCI notice refers to a separate India men versus Japan T20I in Sano.
A fixture listing establishes who is scheduled to play, where and when. It does not establish a result, so the two scheduled matches should not be treated as one event.
