Is Harmanpreet Kaur still India Women’s captain?
Her June Asian Games squad listing was an earlier snapshot, not confirmation of her current captaincy status.
No. As of 6 October 2026, Harmanpreet Kaur is no longer India Women’s captain: the ICC reported that she stepped down with immediate effect across all formats.
The BCCI’s 30 June 2026 announcement for the Asian Games squad had listed Kaur as captain and Smriti Mandhana as vice-captain. That earlier listing is a historical squad snapshot and should not be treated as confirmation of Kaur’s current leadership. These sources do not establish who was formally appointed as her successor.
