Looking up एक दिवसीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय: the ODI label I now check first
I started with a Hindi cricket term and ended up comparing two BCCI announcements. My takeaway: identify the team and format before noting the venue.
Why I looked this up
The phrase एक दिवसीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय sent me looking into ODI cricket. Rather than guess which match had prompted interest, I wanted to see where ODI fixtures appeared in India’s official home-season announcements.
I used BCCI’s own pages for this note. This is a record of reading those announcements, not an account of attending a match or checking ticket availability.
What I found
In its 2026–27 international home-season announcement, BCCI lists a West Indies visit beginning with three ODIs: Trivandrum on 27 September 2026, Guwahati on 30 September 2026, and New Chandigarh on 3 October 2026. Five T20Is follow, from 6 to 17 October 2026.
That distinction is the useful part for me. The opponent stays the same, but the announcement separates the ODI and T20I portions. I should not read every fixture in the visit as an ODI.
The same announcement places Australia’s visit in the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scheduled from 21 January to 3 March 2027. Within this particular home-season announcement, Australia is therefore not the ODI entry I was looking for.
My checklist for reading a fixture announcement
I put together this reading checklist from the two BCCI pages. It is my way of organising their information, not an official BCCI procedure.

My takeaway is to match team, opponent and format before copying a date or venue. A tour headline alone does not give me enough information.
What I looked into next
I also wanted to avoid treating ODI as a label relevant only to the men’s schedule. BCCI’s women’s and development-team announcement, published on 6 May 2026, says India Senior Women will host Zimbabwe Women in October 2026, with three T20Is in Raipur and three ODIs in Baroda.
I have kept that entry at the month-and-city level stated in the article, rather than filling in match dates from elsewhere.
These are announced fixtures, not match results or proof of why the term attracted attention. What the reading gave me was narrower but useful: a way to distinguish the ODI entries from neighbouring fixtures without assuming that an entire tour uses one format.
