IND vs SL, Asian Games 2026: India’s 124-run semi-final win explained
India made 169/7, Sri Lanka were all out for 45, and India advanced to the gold-medal match against Pakistan.
India beat Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the men’s Asian Games 2026 semi-final on 1 October 2026. India made 169/7 in 20 overs, while Sri Lanka were dismissed for 45 in the 10th over. Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten 80 was the main batting contribution, and India advanced to the gold-medal match against Pakistan. Sri Lanka moved into the bronze-medal match against Bangladesh. OCA’s match report
This is the position at 11:20 pm IST on 1 October 2026: the match was complete, not live. BCCI’s official gallery also identifies the fixture as the Asian Games semi-final and records Kishan’s fifty. BCCI gallery
India’s total rested on two substantial innings
The ICC’s report records Kishan’s 80 not out from 46 balls, including four fours and five sixes. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added 38 from 21 balls. Together, those two scores account for 118 of India’s 169 runs. The useful reading is therefore more precise than saying that India simply posted a large total: Kishan supplied the dominant contribution, while Sooryavanshi provided significant support. The 124-run margin was decided well before the finish
The margin comes directly from the two totals: 169 minus 45. Sri Lanka were all out during the 10th over, so this was not a close chase settled in the final overs. India’s win reflects a clear separation across the two innings, but the score alone does not establish that the same batting or bowling pattern will carry into the final. It confirms qualification, not the gold medal.
India’s next match was already set
The result put India into the men’s gold-medal match against Pakistan on 3 October 2026. Sri Lanka were scheduled to play Bangladesh for bronze. That distinction matters when reading updates: India had reached the final, but had not yet won the men’s Asian Games title at the stated cut-off.
Why some IND vs SL results show a 147-run win
That is a different match. In the women’s final on 22 September 2026, India made 216/3 and defeated Sri Lanka, who were all out for 69, by 147 runs. So the 124-run result belongs to the men’s semi-final; the 147-run result belongs to the women’s gold-medal match. OCA women’s final report
